As a theatre practitioner. I like to explore areas involving theatre for the community and for young people. I have researched the impact of community input on homelessness and how society can help the vulnerable, and how quality of life and self-value can be improved greatly with immersive and fun workshops. Theatre can help build communities for isolated troubled individuals struggling with poverty and rough sleeping, encouraging new friendships and connections for people that don’t have them.

I believe it’s important for children to exercise expression as it helps them develop emotional intelligence and it is good for young people to engage in non-academic educational activities. To remind them learning can be fun and interesting. Typically, through storytelling children can gain greater insight into complex issues which can help them develop a deeper understanding of things children usually wouldn’t be able to comprehend.

Taking on Futureproof Realised project, I wanted to challenge myself and boost confidence in my abilities as a theatre designer, to transform a concept from a design into a successful final performance. Through the Futureproof Realised Design and Devised project, they have enabled me to work to my strengths as I learn best when being active and engaging in practical work.

My desired process is collaborative work as I thrive best off the energy of a group and bouncing ideas off each other. Through devising a narrative, designing, creating and performing, I have found that there are many ways to approach designing that can result in very different end products.

I’m drawn to theatre for education and community in my work and personal life, so I aspire to progress my journey as a theatre practitioner into being a part of creating performances that educate as well as entertain.
